Decided to try this restaurant based on other reviews on tripadvisor.com. Have dined in Paris, Milan, Dubai, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Buenos Aires, Tokyo, NYC, etc. We were not disappointed! Great food, nice atmosphere, excellent waiter, and the friendly owner (Saverio Macaluso) who came by the table to be sure were were satisfied with the meal topped off a great experience.

Notable items: the bolognaise sauce was outstanding...not too sweet, and not too acidic. The pana cotta was also excellent.

The waiter was friendly, helpful, and attentive.

The owner is from Italy and has a real desire to make Americans appreciate fine Italian food at reasonable prices. If you're looking for an Olive Garden franchise-type restaurant, then don't go to Primi. ( Trip Advisor )

February 18, 2010 - delicious food and great service! I have been to Primi for both lunch and dinner, amazing! New owners Saverio and Ulyana are incredibly accommodating and really care about their customers' dining experience. The shrimp recco and the bruschetta are beyond delicious. Primi has excellent food, prices, and service. I highly recommend this restaurant for lunch and/or dinner!!! Primi never disappoints. The food is phenomenal and you won't find better italian in St Pete! If you are looking for a great meal with a great wine selection go to Primi. The portions are huge and you can't beat the price. Feb 23, 2010 brought to the area by a college/parents event, we had 16 people on a Saturday night. The restaurant was very accomodative, and everyone was satified with the food, service and ambiance (a lot to ask for such a big crowd). Loved the mussels with tomatos and garlic appetizer! Wine prices reasonable, portions generous, food quality very good. (Trip Advisor)

December 29, 2009 - Likes it - Primi Urban Cafe is by far the most awesome place in downtown St. Pete. Everytime we decide to go out we always end up going to Primi as there is no other place that can compete with its outstanding freshly made cuisine. There are very few places that actually make there food from scratch and Primi is one of them. You can tell that their food is made with love and their award-winning bolognese seriously delicious! Primi has spoiled my taste buds and I find it difficult to go anywhere else. I HIGHLY recommend it!. ( Urban Spoon )

The food at primi is fantastic, and original. It's not like many other restaurants where all of the dishes start to taste the same. Well worth the trip to the downtown area. A party of 10 adults were at a band competition at the Tropicana Field and were looking for something close by. We found the best Italian restaurant in Tampa / St. Pete area. It is not a "red sauce and formula Italian" restaurant; instead you will find heaven in their mushroom ravioli as they practically float off of your plate, flavor and freshness in their shrimp appetizer, and receive service beyond compare. The fresh ingredients and well chosen combinations make the selection of your meal an adventure. The chef wanted everyone to be happy with their meal and the waiter ran to keep us well fed. We had ten adults all order something different and everyone raved about their meal. We recently had friends who traveled to Tampa, went to Primi and ended up going twice on their trip due to the fabulous food. If I did not live 10 hours away, Primi would be a regular spot on our foodie group list of favorites. Go. Primi Urban Cafe in St. Pete is fantastic. The warm personalities of the owners and excellent food. Nothing fried – all home made. How can you not love this place? Great neighborhood joint that I will frequent often. We had Warm Beef Salad and 2 cheese burger – sounds simple but great, flavorful meal.
